About Skillset

Every girl deserves to feel like she belongs.

Skillset was created to give young girls the social tools they need early, while friendships are still taking shape.

Why Skillset exists

Ask any second-grade teacher and you’ll hear the same thing: some of the hardest moments of the day have nothing to do with reading or math. They happen when a friend says no, when a group closes ranks, or when a girl doesn’t know how to say what she feels.

We believe social skills can be taught, just like reading. With the right words, plenty of practice, and caring adults to guide them, girls learn to be good friends, stand up for themselves, and make room for others.

Skillset brings that teaching into schools, with a curriculum designed for second-grade girls and built to be easy for educators to lead.

Our butterfly

Growth isn’t a straight line

The Skillset butterfly has four wings, one for each skill area in the curriculum. The looping path behind it is a reminder that social growth takes practice, a few loops, and the occasional wrong turn.

Every girl gets there in her own way. Skillset helps her along the path.
